President & Vice President
Ruben B. Gardner Jr. is a third-year undergraduate student from Mobile, Alabama, majoring in Psychology. He chose the University of West Florida because of the numerous opportunities to make a meaningful impact. He has always had a passion for service, leadership, and magnifying the students’ voices and because of that, he decided to continue his commitment to those alongside him by getting involved. During his time here at UWF, he has served as the Freshman Committee Chair his first year and as the Budgets and Allocations Chair his second year. He was elected as Vice President of the Student Government Association alongside President Negron, but now he serves as the Student body President. In addition to SGA, his other involvement includes working for the Office of Undergraduate Admission as an Orientation Leader, a Student Ambassador for the Office of Alumni Relations, and an Anchordown of the First-Year Experience. When he is not making a change here at university, he is advocating for students across the state of Florida at the state legislative. Ruben is aspiring to be re-elected to continue putting the students' future first!.
For the past three years Noemi Gaytan has devoted her time to helping others and serving campus. She pursued her involvement freshman year, when she became a part of the 2018 Freshman Committee and since then has played active roles in Students Ambassadors, Pre-Veterinarian Society, Peer-To-Peer Marketing, and as an Orientation Leader. Within SGA she has served as Senate Pro Tempore and Chief of Staff where she had the privilege of chairing committees, facilitating Senate, overseeing departments, leading initiatives and lobbying for over 400,000 college students at the Florida State Capitol . Each of these roles have prepared her to represent the Student Body as Vice President. She is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to further show all that a proud Hispanic, first-generation female can accomplish.
Together this administration will work to ensure student needs are met, and to continue fighting as their voice in each and every aspect. They carry with them a passion to do more for the students and willingness to push boundaries to make this one of the most impactful years SGA has had, truly a future in the making.
